ACUPUNCTURE
Acupuncture is a health
science that treats pain and dysfunction to the body. Originating in China
between 5,000 and 7000 years ago, acupuncture has enjoyed tremendous
success in the United States since it was introduced nearly in 1971. Early
Chinese physicians mapped a network of energy pathways below the skin called
meridians.
Pain or symptoms can occur when
the flow of energy is blocked or interrupted along these meridians. Each
meridian has numerous acupuncture points which, when stimulated, has a
specific effect upon the energy flow in the meridian, thereby releasing the
blocked or "stagnant" energy. This helps restore the body to it's naturally
balanced and healthy state.
Does it hurt?
Acupuncture points can be stimulated by a variety of methods ranging
from finger pressure, to needles as thin as a human hair, to modern methods
such as electronic stimulators and lasers. We have found that most patients
prefer non-needle methods such as electronic stimulation. This is
extremely accurate and most patients report feeling little or no sensation
at all.
What conditions Respond to Acupuncture?
Acupuncture textbooks list over one hundred different conditions. The
World Health Organization has indicated that Acupuncture is effective in
treating :
This is only a partial list of the
many conditions that Acupuncture is credited with helping.
