Your First Visit

Chiropractic is a primary
healthcare profession concerned with the diagnosis, treatment and
prevention of disorders of the musculoskeletal system and the
effects of these disorders on the nervous system and general health.
Chiropractic is
based on the scientific fact that your nervous system controls the
function of every cell, tissue, organ, and system of your body. Your
nervous system consists of your brain, spinal cord, and millions of
nerves. Your brain is protected by the skull, and your spinal cord
by the 24 moving bones of the spine. Injuries and many everyday
activities can cause these spinal bones to lose their normal
position or motion. This can result in pain and dysfunction.
Chiropractors may use a variety of techniques including spinal
manipulation, trigger point therapy and massage, acupuncture,
stretching and exercise as well as other modalities such as
microcurrent, muscle stimulation and heat/ice to restore normal
function, reduce pain, increase range of motion and prevent
re-injury.
Manipulation helps restore normal joint mechanics (movement) and has
been proven to reduce pain, relax tense muscles and increase range
of motion. Combined with other treatments and rehabilitation
provides faster recovery and improved long term outcomes.
Numerous scientific studies have proven the effectiveness, cost
effectiveness, and safety of Chiropractic care.

| Consultation |
|
|
The first step to finding the source
of your problem is a detailed case history and consultation. We will
discuss all the aspects of your condition and determine what type of
examination you will need. |
|
 |
| | Exam |
|
A thorough examination will be
performed to locate the cause of your problem and determine if your
condition is the type that will respond to chiropractic care. Posture,
range of motion and joint play will be assessed to determine abnormal
biomechanics. Reflexes, sensation and muscle strength are evaluated to
evaluate neurological involvement. Palpation (feeling) of the spine
and associated muscles will help locate trigger points, tight muscles,
muscle imbalance or spasm, and areas of swelling and/or inflamation. |

|
| Diagnostic Imaging and Special Tests |
 |
|
Based the consultation and exam
findings, X-rays, MRI's or other diagnostic imaging may be necessary.
These images can help rule out pathologies, reveal a history of your
spinal health and act as a "blueprint" for treatment.
Blood work and other lab tests may
be ordered to evaluate your overall health and help determine your
nutritional status.
